DINESH DOSHI
ARTIST
I was born in Africa in 1949. My artwork is informed by a variety of cultural experiences having lived in Sudan, India, London & New York. Doshi's artwork is an exploration of the inner workings of my mind, and spiritual visions, it's a way of digesting & revisiting life experiences. At the young age of twenty-one, I was invited for my first solo exhibition at Mumbai' s highly respected Jehangir Art Gallery and has sold my work throughout India. For the majority of my life, I have maintained an active studio practice, while simultaneously having a successful career in Architecture.
Art work sold world wide & in private collection of individuals & corporations.
In 2013 I had a retrospective Chelsea art exhibition of abstract & figurative with bright colors compositions of original oil in New York, while my work is in numerous corporate & private collections in the USA. My work has been featured in several radio interviews & publications such as the Huffington Post, The Art of Times, News India Times & Just Luxe etc.
Artist, Dinesh Doshi, grew up with the arts, watching his mother as a young boy in the process of creating something from scratch. Finding early success at a young age, Doshi continues to build a name for himself as one of the painters in today’s world. With an early debut into the art world, Doshi, at twenty-one, was the youngest artist ever to be selected in a juried show at Mumbai’s prestigious Jehangir Art Gallery.
INSPIRATION
It was during my final years in high school in late 60's, that my art teachers discovered my art skills & exposed me to drawings & painting on canvas & my true passion for painting grew onwards, inspired by masters such as Da Vinci, Picasso, Van Gogh, and Michelangelo, I began developing my own technique with a human touch & emotions.
TECHNIQUES
LIVING in the moment - both mentally and emotionally, manifests every oil on canvas stroke & subject of my painting. Random & deliberate ambidextrous free-flowing color strokes allow me to free myself from a structured lifestyle.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
By age 21, I made an impressive debut into the formal art world as the youngest artist selected in a juried show at Mumbai’s prestigious Jehangir Art Gallery. I showed over 25 pieces in this first solo exhibit and the show’s success not only captured the attention of an international audience, it confirmed my conviction that I was destined to paint.
